Information and terms of counselling & psychotherapy, Central London
In my experience, it is useful to set out an agreement about our work together.
We will discuss this agreement, as well as any other concerns you may have, at our first meeting.
Counselling sessions regularity
Sessions are 50 minutes long, at our regular agreed time. If you arrive late, the session will conclude at the usual ending time.

Holidays and cancellations
I will give notice of my breaks at least four weeks in advance. No fee will be charged when I am away.
If you are going to be away and give me two weeks’ notice, I will not charge for the session. For notice of less than two weeks, the full fee will be payable.
If you are unable to attend a session, please let me know as soon as possible. I will attempt to rearrange your session to a mutually-convenient time. If this is not possible the usual fee will be payable.
Ending therapy
It is important upon ending therapy to aim for an understanding of what has happened; what has changed, or not changed, and to think together about what comes next. To enable this, please give at least four weeks’ notice of your intention to finish our work together. Fees will be applied accordinng to the above cancellation policy.
Confidentiality of counselling and psychotherapy
Therapy sessions are completely confidential except for specific, exceptional circumstances where I believe that you are at risk of harming yourself or others. I would only break confidentiality in an attempt to prevent serious harm, and only after attempting to discuss it with you first.
I regularly discuss my work with a trained clinical supervisor. This is an ethical requirement of the registration of therapists. Clinical supervision is also bound by the BACP and UKCP ethics and confidentiality policies.
